Citizen's Academy
WHAT IS THE CITIZEN’S POLICE ACADEMY?
The Saratoga Springs Police Department conducts a Citizen’s Academy to promote a better understanding and working knowledge of the Police Department. Our goal is to provide an educational environment for one to learn the basic duties of the Law Enforcement Officer. In addition, this course will provide a means to dispel myths, perceived suspicions, and misconceptions regarding the practices of Law Enforcement. The Citizen’s Academy presents an opportunity to promote civic awareness.
The Academy will provide an opportunity for classroom presentations and “hands-on” experience for the citizen. This program will provide valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a Police agency.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
This program is designed to build a bond of mutual trust and respect between the Saratoga Springs Police Department and the Community it serves. In addition, the Academy highlights the importance of citizen involvement in public safety.
PROMOTING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Trained and experienced police officers provide class lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, which allow for student participation.
