About the City Recorder
The City Recorder’s Office serves as a legislative administrator for City Council, Planning Commission, and other appointed boards. They maintain official records and municipal code, facilitate and document meetings, and ensure public access to information in compliance with state records and open meeting laws. The office ensures all public notices, agendas, and minutes are published in accordance with legal requirements. The Recorder serves as the City’s Elections Officer to administer fair and open elections, administers Oaths of Office, and oversees community services such as passports and business licensing.
City Recorder – Primary Duties
- Support City Council & Boards
Prepares agendas and meeting materials, facilitates meetings, records minutes, and documents official actions of the City Council, Planning Commission, and other boards. - Administer Municipal Elections
Serves as the City’s Elections Officer, coordinating candidate filings, notices, and election processes working with County and State to uphold fair and transparent elections. - Records Management
Safeguards ordinances, resolutions, contracts, city seal, city code, and historical documents; manages Government Records requests and ensures public access to information in compliance with state law. - Public Notices
Ensures timely posting of public notices, hearings, annexations, and ordinance updates in accordance with legal requirements. - Oversee Special Programs & Divisions
Manages Business Licensing, Passports, provides support for Planning and Engineering developments, and works with the City Sexton for pre-need sales and Cemetery burial rights.
